Whataroa River, West Coast
Inspired by the wild rivers of New Zealand’s West Coast, this print captures packrafters exploring the milky-blue waters of the Whataroa River, surrounded by lush native bush and rugged rock walls.
The river’s distinctive blue colour comes from glaciers high in the Southern Alps grinding mineral-rich rock into a fine powder, which is carried downstream in the glacial water. I wanted this piece to capture everything I love about the West Coast. Lush, remote and wild.
